Kiki Health cultivate their organic red Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) mushrooms on wood-rich substrate, Duanwood (original wood logs), where Reishi grows naturally, resulting in a potent and high-quality reishi extract with the most bio-active constituents available.
There are 2 types of bioactive compounds in Reishi: beta-D-glucans (type of polysaccharides) and triterpenes (triterpenoids). The glucans also may vary, depending on their structure. Mushrooms grown predominantly on grain substrate are rich in alpha-glucans, but mushrooms grown predominantly on a wood substrate are rich in beta-glucans.
